This educational series was created to connect the dots between heart disease, stroke, and cholesterol.

One of the best weapons for reducing heart health disparities is prevention education. Unfortunately, individuals who identify as Black and other persons of color have significantly lower levels of health literacy than their White peers (Richard et al., 2016). To address this disparity, BHA provides culturally appropriate health education on CVD, its risk factors, and prevention.

The Black Heart Association (BHA) Lifeguards Program has been created to provide an opportunity for individuals with a passion for people to represent BHA in their community by promoting healthy hearts and advocating for people of color in underserved communities.

In this collaborative approach, the Healthier Hoods program addresses immediate needs and actively engages the community through events and promotions to create lasting positive changes in health and well-being.
